You can wear the shawl around your shoulders with it tied in the front.
My original thought for the pattern was that I didn't want it very deep...just enough to cover the shoulders when wearing cute summer dresses.
A front view...special thanks to my hubby photographer. I HATE being the model, but he puts me at ease and makes me smile. :)
I love to get lots of use out of my shawls.
They make great table runners and decorations on the mantle.
Rowan Summerspun is a great yarn! It is two strands of variegated yarn spun together to make one DK weight yarn. You never get bored knitting with it because the color constantly changes. A fun technique for this shawl would also be to hold two different colorways of sock yarns together as one yarn. You would create your own unique creation!
You can also wear it just open and laying around your shoulders.
The increase and decrease sections of the shawl keep it on your shoulders.
You can purchase the pattern from any of the following locations for $2.99:
Details, details, details:
Gauge: 5.5 sts / 8 rows = 1 inch in garter
US needle size 6 or size needed to get gauge; I used circulars in 32 inches length.
4 balls of Rowan Summerspun, which is a DK weight yarn with 131 yards per ball. (If holding fingering weight yarn doubled, you will need 1,048 yards total--524 of each color.)
You will also need a safety pin, scissors, and a tapestry needle.
I hope you enjoy knitting the Girlfriends Shawl and making them for all your friends! Not a knitter? I can make you one for purchase via the Brownie Knits Etsy shop. Simply convo me and we can determine the color you desire.
