Jewelry

I'm a real sucker for picking up trinkets while on vacation. Since there were not yarn stores on the islands, I settled on some baskets (one in bag form) and lots of shell jewelry. It was pretty inexpensive, so it was easy to get a little more than I realized! They will be lots of fun to wear when the weather warms up.

This is my favorite piece. It was from a local market and made out of natural coral.

A little basket that is currently holding my shells. Over time, I'm sure it will become a yarn bowl!

Conch jewelry. Most of it I picked up at the conch farm that was in recovery from the storms. I thought it was a good way to show support for a local disaster recovery and still come away with some great items that I will always associate with the memories.

Some coconut earrings to remind me of our time in the hammocks.
Also from a local lady who makes them.

Finally, Patrick bought these for me. I just loved the design and color.
I think I'll wear these this week since they can travel throughout all of the seasons.

All in all, including the items I picked up for some friends, I didn't spend much at all, but brought home a ton. Not more than you would spend on a few balls of yarn, but I'll always have the memories to associate with them. Those are the things I like best about buying jewelry on vacation. That and they are little pieces of both the art and culture of the region.

Hi Margo! I got it for $35 from the lady who made it. It is really well made and ones like it are MUCH more expensive online. It was a last-minute purchase, so I'm glad I did it. :)
